
UMK News - Kuningan, July 30, 2025 – The Faculty of Pharmacy, Health, and Science at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kuningan (UM Kuningan) proudly hosted an International Guest Lecture titled “Drug-Related Problems and Pharmacists’ Role” featuring Assoc. Prof. Thang Nguyen, Ph.D from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam. This prestigious event aimed to broaden students’ perspectives on the global challenges in pharmaceutical practice and emphasize the critical role pharmacists play in ensuring safe and effective medication use.
Held at UM Kuningan’s main campus in Kuningan, the lecture attracted students, lecturers, and professionals in the field of pharmacy. The event began with an introduction by the Dean of the Faculty, followed by a comprehensive presentation by Prof. Nguyen, who shared his expertise and real-world experiences in identifying, preventing, and resolving drug-related problems in various healthcare settings.
In his remarks, Dr. apt. Wawang Anwarudin, M.Sc., Rector of UM Kuningan, expressed his appreciation for the valuable insights delivered by the speaker. “This international collaboration enriches our academic environment and equips our students with global competencies. Understanding the complexity of drug-related problems is essential for producing pharmacists who are not only knowledgeable but also adaptive and innovative in addressing healthcare challenges,” he stated.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, allowing participants to engage directly with Prof. Nguyen and discuss practical solutions to issues faced by pharmacists worldwide. The lecture not only strengthened academic ties between UM Kuningan and international institutions but also inspired students to embrace a more proactive role in pharmaceutical care.
